Really missing Alison. . . .

Alison's picture is still on our fridge from her funeral- the one where she has the huge smile and it says "Be calm and knit on." Still can't believe that she is gone. We'll never hear that laugh again. We'll never watch her roll her eyes. We'll never be wowed by her intelligence about life in general, and politics, in particular. Man, she would have changed the world.

It was amazing to be with everyone at Brit's wedding, but so hard to be without one member. I don't know how Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Steve are doing it. I find myself falling apart over it every few weeks. It's just not fair.

Food allergies

Here's my update: I recently found out that I have minor allergies to the following foods: wheat, eggs, and peanuts. The diagnosis comes after not feeling well for about a month. I went to see my doctor and she suggested some blood tests.  I have adopted a gluten-free diet now, which is a big lifestyle change, as well as being an avid label reader! It's amazing how many products have forms of wheat in them, and then if they don't- they have eggs! This means no more bread, pasta, baked goods, etc! I have tried some gluten-free baked goods- NOT GOOD! The hunt is on for some good stuff! But the reality is I am feeling better and this is not the end of the world!

Getting to know you. . .

Here's the challenge- although many miles separate us, let us still know the big and the little things going on in each other's lives. Last week we lost our cousin, Alison. What an awesome life she led. Although only with us for 28 years, she touched so many lives, and accomplished so many things.  Her death made me realize how much I didn't know about her- sad that I learned so much following her death.

I don't want this to happen again. I want us to tell each other things, so that we know one another, know each little quirk, know the milestones. Let's keep one another updated. Love you, Sciarrino family!
